Medium golden yellow, silver reflections. Subtle hints of precious wood, nuances of herbs, some vanilla, yellow stone fruit, candied orange zest, still a bit shy on the nose. Medium complexity, white stone fruit, a touch of sweetness, elegant and well LASTING, mineral, balanced, endowed with length and certain ageing potential.

Vini Noüe-Marinič, located in Brda, Slovenia, near the Italian border, is led by Vicomte Charles-Louis de Noüe, nephew of Anne Claude Leflaive of Domaine Leflaive in Burgundy. His passion for discovering prestigious terroirs brought him to Brda in 2019, where he and partner Alis Marinič revitalised abandoned vineyards, preserving the region’s genetic heritage through massale selection. The estate practices organic, chemical-free viticulture and is transitioning to biodynamics. With 140 hectares of vines, their vineyards are classified by a historical cru system.
This wine comes from a vineyard which was rated a “second growth” in the Marie Therese classification of Austrian vineyards in 1787. The Brda region of Slovenia used to belong to Austria until the First World War, then to Italy where it was a part of the Collio wine region until the Second World War. It is located just over the border from Gorizia in Northeast Italy.
From a small, east-facing, 45-year-old vineyard on local “Ponka” soils. This is rich and powerful yet also has delicious freshness and minerality. Flavours of honeysuckle and exotic peach and grapefruit are mingled with notes of butter, oatmeal and brioche from its 12 month stay in ex-Domaine Leflaive oak barrels. Extremely well-made, this combines mountain air purity with Burgundian complexity and finesse! Like Puligny Montrachet in style. Only 250 cases were produced.
