Such beautiful aromas of crushed blueberries, wet earth and mushrooms. Ripe fruit yet fresh at the same time. Full-bodied with a depth of fruit and plushness, yet it’s fresh and vivid with so much energy. Tight at the end with very integrated tannins. Persistent at the end. Give this four or five years to come around. Best after 2027.

The blend consists of 80 percent Malbec, which was planted ungrafted in 1927 in Las Compuertas, Lujan de Cuyo, on gravel soils. The remaining 20 percent are Cabernet Franc grapes from an old vineyard in Chacayes, in the Uco Valley. The nose is bursting with juicy, dark cherry and berry fruit, with juicy plums, violets and a hint of lavender and delicately floating herbal aromas also resonating. For all its density and intensity, the wine also has a class and finesse that only these extreme altitudes from Argentina can display. Even on the nose, it is dense, intense and infinitely fine. In the mouth, the gentle, almost silky wave of tannins rolled in. A concentrated wine that is intense and yet almost weightless. Crass class!

Dark ruby garnet, opaque core, violet reflections, subtle edge brightening. Ripe heart cherries, blackberry confit, delicate hints of candied violets, multi-faceted, attractive bouquet. Juicy, silky, fine nougat, ripe cherry fruit, ripe, integrated tannins, mineral, fine extract sweetness, already accessible, shows length, sure maturity potential.
