Sour black cherries, violets and a touch of peppercorns and chaparral. Really fresh and crunchy with al-dente fruit and tannins on the medium-bodied palate. Freshness is the key here, and there seems to be more fruit in this vintage. Drinkable now, but better from 2025.

The 2022 Las Pizarras Syrah leads an intensely exotic, herbal nose that forms around a core of cured meats, with aromas of mortadella, oregano, dried sage and bramble fruits. With increased aeration, it becomes fabulously floral and lifted. The palate is plush and velvety, braced with excellent tension and focus, leading to a saturated finish flanked by taut yet weightless tannins. Still wound up and inward, this will reward a year or to come together. It is a gorgeous expression nonetheless, and I look forward to following its progress in the cellar. It fermented with a small amount of whole clusters and aged 12 months in a mixture of French barrique and foudre.

This is a selection of 2 plots in the Errázuriz vineyard in the westernmost area of the Aconcagua Valley, about 12 kilometers in a straight line from the sea. And that cold influence is felt in the meaty and spicy aromas, the tones of herbs and ripe and sweet black fruits. The palate is firm in acidity, tense in tannins and with flavors of ripe black fruits that project to the end of the palate in a large, opulent wine, but at the same time with a good tannic structure that provides balance.
