A big, powerful wine that is still very young at the moment, this is much more successful than the 2010 in my view, showing incense and ripe plums on the nose and a rich, dense, textured palate with a sturdy tannic structure and lots of minerality. A very classy wine that needs a decade or more in bottle to show its pedigree. 12+ years.

The 2011 Trotanoy has a delineated and nicely focused bouquet, maybe not the most energetic you will find, though I appreciate the pencil box and sage aromatics filtering through the red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, well judged acidity, fleshy and very well balanced with impressive precision on the finish. This is an excellent Pomerol that is ageing beautifully in bottle. Tasted blind at the annual 10-Year-On tasting. Drink 2022-2040

Dominated the JP Moueix tasting. Complex, savoury nose. Rich, pure-fruited palate with good depth, firm, ripe tannins and minerally freshness.
