The project is the personal project of winemaker Nigel Kinsman and his wife, Shea. The name is derived from their surnames. Their first vintage was in 2016, and the wines are currently made at Wheeler Farms in St Helena. They are sourced from five single vineyard sites: M-Bar Ranch and Vine Hill Ranch in Oakville, Ecotone, and the former Reverie site on Diamond Mountain, as well as Sleeping Lady Vineyard in Yountville. They produce one entry-level wine, this Hierothesion, a blend of all their single vineyard sites—aged 22 months in roughly 50% new French oak. Bright and lifted aromas, candied red berry fruit nuanced by mocha, and flamed tangerine peel and red florals. Intricate, pixelated tannins are so expressive, coating the palate and resolving nicely, making way for a dense core of juicy, black cherry and spiced plum fruits tinged with graphite minerality. Long and layered.

Named after a royal burial ground in Turkey, the 2021 Hierothesion is a new wine from Kinsman based on multiple AVAs and a mix from the single vineyards. It’s one heck of a wine, offering beautiful cassis and darker currant fruits as well as graphite, leafy tobacco, Asian spices, and floral notes. With medium to full-bodied richness, a ripe, seamless, elegant mouthfeel, and a great finish, it’s perfect for drinking over the coming 15+ years. Drink 2023-2038

So bold in fruit and spice flavors and so velvety in texture. This full-bodied red made from top vineyards in different sections of Napa Valley offers gentle tannins layered with creamy, chocolaty flavors of black cherries, blueberries and cocoa. 80% cabernet sauvignon. It’s smooth, deep and broad with a long, fresh finish. Drink or hold.
