The Pinot Noir Aton Riserva 2018 by Elena Walch demonstrates all its value. Fruit of vineyards in the Glen and Barleith areas, it smells of wild fruit and medicinal herbs but it is on the palate that the wine reveals all its class. Tense and slender, it conquers for the flavor and elegance of the sip, concluding with a long and satisfying finish. The relationship between the Walch family and Atesina viticulture is centuries old, but it was with Elena’s arrival in the company in the 1980s that the company changed pace, quickly becoming a point of reference for all enthusiasts. Today at the helm are daughters Julia and Karoline who manage a viticultural platform that extends for approximately 90 hectares, distributed between 250 meters of the valley floor and up to 1000 meters where the vines that require greater freshness grow.

Elegant, bright ruby red. On the nose, subtle notes of cranberries, wet pebbles, juicy blood oranges, wild strawberries, a bit of cold tea. Elegant and fresh on the palate, with polished fruit, still somewhat young tannins at the moment, wonderfully long.

Here is an exciting new submission from Elena Walch that represents her foray into a lighter and more delicate red wine. The 2018 Alto Adige Pinot Noir Riserva Aton reveals a sightly evolved character, with dried fruit, redcurrant, strawberry confit and a hint of wild licorice root. Aton is very silky to the touch and lean on the mid-palate, with a delicate and lightweight sense of lasting elegance – Drink 2023-2035
